Pogba tells teammates he wants out at United…

Paul Pogba has told his Manchester United teammates that he wants to leave, and has even come to an agreement with Barcelona over a £350,000-per-week deal, according to the Mail.

The World Cup winner is said to have grown disillusioned with life under Jose Mourinho, which has sparked interest from the La Liga champions — though time is likely to save United’s blushes with less than 48 hours until the end of the window.

Still, the Mail says that Pogba has sent United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward a message to inform him of his decision.

The lure of playing with Lionel Messi is said to be strong, while former Juventus teammate Arturo Vidal is another pal of Pogba’s.

United are loath to lose Pogba just two years after bringing him in for £89 million, and with Mourinho already dissatisfied, it would likely take an astonishing offer for United to sell and leave themselves in a precarious position.

…and Boateng has snubbed them too…

United appear set to sign one centre-back before Thursday’s deadline, but it will seemingly not be Jerome Boateng, despite talks between the club and Bayern Munich during this week’s friendly in Munich.

According to Bild, the Germany international is said to have personally called Mourinho to inform him of his decision after Niko Kovac’s intervention and plea for the experienced centre-back to remain with the German champions.

The snub leaves Mourinho scrapping around for an alternative, likely strengthening Tottenham’s hand in negotiations over Toby Alderweireld.

…but United handed Maguire hope from Leicester

However, United could rekindle their hopes of signing World Cup star Harry Maguire, with Leicester closing in on two centre-backs late in the window to safeguard themselves against losing their England international.

The Mirror claims the Foxes are set to announce the signing of Croatia under-21 international Filip Benkovic from Dinamo Zagreb in a £13.5m move following a medical on Monday. And perhaps a more impressive capture of Freiburg’s Caglar Soyuncu appears to be gathering pace, with the clubs coming to an agreement at £22.5m. (The Foxes would therefore beat off strong competition from Arsenal in the Turkish prospect.)

Maguire is valued at £65m, and despite plenty of depth with Wes Morgan, Yohan Benalouane and Jonny Evans all available to Claude Puel, the fact that only Maguire is under 30 means the signings of Benkovic and Soyuncu are essential for Leicester’s future.

– Everton look set to sign Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma on loan, reports the Mirror, with Marco Silva desperate for defensive reinforcements. The French defender spent last term at Stoke, but with Antonio Rudiger, David Luiz, Andreas Christensen, Gary Cahill, Cesar Azpilicueta and even young Ethan Ampadu already ahead of him, Maurizio Sarri will sanction a move to Goodison.

The Mirror also details how Fulham and Crystal Palace are monitoring the situation of Jordan Ayew at Swansea. The Ghanaian has gone AWOL since the club’s relegation, and a move may not be likely given the Welsh club are demanding £12m to sell.

– Chelsea will let Tiemoue Bakayoko leave on loan to AC Milan, reports Corriere dello Sport, just a year after his £40m move from Monaco. The French midfielder played in the Blues’ final preseason friendly vs. Lyon on Tuesday, but with the presumed arrival of Mateo Kovacic, along with the presence of N’Golo Kante, Jorginho, Cesc Fabregas, Ross Barkley and even Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Danny Drinkwater, a move is necessary to regain first-team action.

Corriere dello Sport also reveals that Roma aim to rebound from their Malcom snub by pushing for Boca Juniors star Cristian Pavon. With a €34m release clause, the Giallorossi are keen, with Napoli and Inter also there, following glimpses of his potential at the World Cup with Argentina.
